The company alone is obliged to pay the contributions to FasiOpen quarterly in arrears. FasiOpen does not itself monitor whether these sums are payable by the company, the employee, or jointly.
FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE THE COMPANY MANAGEMENT OR PARTNERS ELIGIBLE FOR COVER BY FASIOPEN?
Cover is reserved to all employees in the company who are not eligible for membership of Fasi. An employee is anybody who collaborates in the company’s production activities, regardless of his/her type of contract (fixed-term, project-based, etc.).
All sole proprietors and persons whose remuneration by the Company is based upon the issue of an invoice (e.g. VAT-registered workers) are excluded.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE HEALTH PLAN?
Yes, it is always possible to change health plans on a collective basis, to be notified by 31 December, and the choice made becomes effective from 1 January of the following year.
Any change of an employee’s plan also involves any family members covered.
IS THERE A MINIMUM MEMBERSHIP PERIOD FOR COMPANIES?
Yes, the minimum membership period for companies is one year. Companies may cancel their membership of FasiOpen, taking effect from 1 January. The company must notify FasiOpen of any cancellation via registered post with proof of delivery by the previous 31 October. Without such a cancellation notice, membership will be tacitly renewed from year to year.
IS THERE A MINIMUM PERIOD OF COVER FOR EMPLOYEES AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS?
Yes, the individual employees covered and any family members may voluntarily cancel at any time during the year, subject to the restriction that cover remains in force at least until 31 December of the year in which the request for cancellation is made.
The cancellation notification must always be sent to the Fund by the Company. Any request for reinstatement of a previously cancelled family unit results in the application of a 12-month waiting period.
DURING A COMPANY'S MEMBERSHIP, IS IT POSSIBLE FOR AN INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEE TO BE COVERED EVEN IF HE/SHE IS THE SOLE REPRESENTATIVE OF A HOMOGENEOUS GROUP?
No, individual workers are never eligible for cover since the principle of collective cover – pursuant to Article 2 of the FasiOpen Regulations* – would no longer apply.
IS THE ONE-TIME REGISTRATION FEE PAYABLE BY THE COMPANY OR THE EMPLOYEE?
There are no specific obligations with regard to this; the one-time registration fee must nonetheless be paid by the company together with the first quarterly contribution payment. This fee, on the other hand, is not exclusively payable by companies that, before registering with FasiOpen, had set up other forms of supplementary health care for their employees.
The registration of employees subsequent to that of the company involves the payment of a one-off entrance fee. The one-time entry fee is never payable by the family unit to be covered. For more details, please refer to the FasiOpen Regulations* (Article 10).
